Photos from early ORF expeditions [1977 to 1999].  All of our historical photographs have been rescanned - an impressive archive is building up.

The photos were illustrations for an article in Antarctic magazine in 2003 about Sir Hubert Wilkins voyage to Commonwealth Bay.
One of the objectives of the voyage was to further the ORF search for the position of Aurora's anchors, using a magnetometer towed from Huey's boats. Ian Pullman travelled to Hobart to train the crew in the use of the instrument. The photos remind us of what our objective of Commonwealth Bay is like in good weather, plus a glimpse, like Aurora had, of Macquarie Island en route.

The Pirate Party was a rollicking night aboard the Polly Woodside on Saturday May 14. The dress code strictly Pirate ....... Apart from fierce and unruly pirates and wenches there were - Door Prizes, Raffles of interesting items, Roaming Minstrels, Demonstration Sword Fights, Cannon Firing, Live Band, Cash Bar
